Frequently Asked Questions

Planning photos often comes with a lot of small questions. This page covers some of the most common ones I receive, but you’re always welcome to reach out if something isn’t answered here.

How do I book a session or wedding?

Once you reach out through the contact form, I’ll follow up with availability, next steps, and a proposal tailored to your needs. A signed contract and retainer are required to officially reserve your date.

Do you help with timelines and planning?

Yes. For weddings and elopements, I’m happy to offer guidance on timelines, lighting considerations, and pacing to help your day flow naturally. My goal is to create space for real moments without rushing or overplanning.

Do you have location recommendations?

Absolutely. I’m familiar with a wide range of locations throughout the Charleston area, including parks, historic areas, and quieter spots that photograph beautifully. I’m always happy to help suggest locations that fit your vision and comfort level.

What if we feel awkward in front of the camera?

You’re not alone, and you don’t need to worry about it. My approach is guided but natural, using prompts rather than stiff posing to encourage genuine interaction. Most clients are surprised by how comfortable the experience feels.

How many images will we receive?

Rather than limiting by a set number, I focus on delivering a complete, thoughtfully edited gallery that reflects your session or wedding day. Every image included is chosen for quality and storytelling.

Do you travel outside the Charleston area?

Yes. Travel can be added for sessions or weddings outside the Charleston area, and details are provided based on location.

Do you offer sneak peeks?

Yes. Every session includes a small preview gallery so you can enjoy a few highlights while the full collection is being carefully edited. Portrait sessions typically receive at least five images, and weddings and elopements receive at least ten, often more. Sneak peeks are usually delivered within one week of your session and are shared both via a private gallery link and on my social media pages.

Do you offer albums or prints?

My collections focus on digital delivery, allowing you the flexibility to print and share your images as you choose. While albums aren’t a standard offering, I’m always happy to discuss options if you’re interested.

What matters most when choosing photography coverage?

The amount of time matters less than how it’s used. Thoughtful pacing, natural light, and space for genuine moments often make the biggest difference in how your photos feel long after the day is over.

What is the turnaround time for the final gallery delivery?

I know how exciting it is to see your photos, and I never want to rush the process at the expense of quality. I take a thoughtful, intentional approach to culling and editing so your gallery feels cohesive and true to the day. Portrait sessions are delivered within approximately 14–28 days, and wedding and elopement galleries are delivered within 60 days. Every session also includes a small sneak peek delivered sooner, so you have a few favorites to enjoy and share while you wait.

Are retainers or payments refundable?

A retainer is required to reserve your date and time, and ensures that your session is held exclusively for you. Because that time is set aside and no longer available to other clients, the retainer is non-refundable. Additional payments made toward your session follow the same policy.  If a session is rescheduled within the guidelines below and I am available on the new date, the retainer may be applied toward the rescheduled session.

What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?

For portrait sessions, rescheduling must take place at least 7 days prior to your session date in order to apply the retainer to a future date.  For weddings and elopements, rescheduling must take place at least 30 days prior to the event date.  Each session may be rescheduled once, pending availability. If a session is fully canceled without rescheduling, the retainer cannot be transferred or applied to future sessions.  Cancellations made with less notice than outlined above will be subject to 50% of the total session cost.
